East Victoria
Special Planning Study
The purpose of the East Victoria Special Study is to review
the Victoria Park East Area Redevelopment Plan (ARP) and
to promote redevelopment through the following:
- Using the Blueprint for
the Beltline to guide redevelopment in East Victoria
Crossing
- Improving the local transportation system, particularly
in relation to parking and traffic management for major
events at Stampede Park;
- Creating attractive, usable, appropriately sized, and
above all, safe public open spaces (and the connections
among them) that reflect the urban character of a high-density
inner city community;
- Promoting investment in East Victoria by taking advantage
of this community's unique place in Calgary, especially
in relation to culture and tourism.
On June 20, 2003, a public open house was held at the Victoria
Community Centre to allow the public to review and comment
on the relevant topics, research and objectives pertaining
to Land Use, Transportation, Open Space & Infrastructure,
and Culture, Tourism & Economic Development.
