Background
As recommended by the Blueprint for the Beltline, the Belltine
Area Redevelopment Plan ("The Beltline Plan")
is to replace the three existing planning policy documents
that apply in the Beltline: the Victoria Park East Area
Redevelopment Plan, the Connaught/West Victoria Area Redevelopment
Plan and the Core Area Policy Brief.
The Beltline Area Redevelopment Plan provides a framework
for the future development of the area bounded by 17 Avenue
SW, Elbow River, 14 Street SW and the CPR Railway Tracks.
The Plan envisions the Beltline as a liveable and diverse
community with high-density urban population. To achieve
this, the Plan proposes a comprehensive set of land use
policies and implementation tools that encourage a high
level of mixed uses and an enhanced public environment.
The main planning issues are covered in the Plan, including
land use, density, historical and character places, public
spaces, building design and transportation.
The Beltline Plan is available in draft form, by clicking

Printed copies are also available from The City of Calgary.
The Plan was presented at a Public Open House on Wednesday,
November 30, 2005, and a summary of the presentation can
