The first tower of the Stampede Station residential project is
now completed. A ground breaking ceremony took place on January
26, 2004 to commence construction, and Sasso residents began moving
into their new homes in the summer of 2006.
This 24-storey contemporary-style building is a perfect addition
to Stampede Station. There are 204 suites in various floor plans,
ranging from around 600 to 2000 square feet each. The stylish,
luxurious design of the building, both inside and out, along with

Elbow
River Casino - 218 - 18 Avenue SE

The former location of the Elbow River Inn & Casino, at 1919
Macleod Trail SE, has relocated to a brand new facility one block
north. The casino project, by Switzer Investments and BCMP Architects
Inc., celebrated its grand opening on June 22, 2005.
The new facility is approximately 80,000 square feet in size,
built-to-suit and custom fitted for entertainment. The exterior
is of traditional urban design, reflecting the elegent old finishes
in the neighbourhood with sandstone, red brick and gold glazing.
The interior is contemporary and upscale in style.
The gaming activities are absolutely unparalleled with over 600
slot machines, Alberta's largest Poker Room, one of Canada's largest
Poker Tournament Rooms and all kinds of action from $1 to $1,000.
Not just for gaming, the Elbow River Casino features Jester's
Court - a stage with live entertainment nightly - and three fantastic
choices in restaurant service: a deli with a full complement of
casual fare, a comfortable restaurant for a more leisurely pace
and broader spectrum of menu items, and a fine dining room with
award-winning chefs Fred Zimmerman and Michael Noble. Adjacent

Brownstones
Office Condos - 221 - 10 Avenue SE
The Brownstones Office Condos were constructed on what was previously
a surface parking lot, at 221 10 Avenue SE. The project, by Poon
McKenzie Architects and StonePine Inc., added approximately 45,000
square feet of commercial space to the area, and the building's
warehouse-like design contributes to the vitality and ambience of
the increasingly popular Warehouse District. In addition to the
three floors of office space, surface and underground parking are
also included on the site. The project was completed in the spring
of 2004.
On May 27, 2003, Poon McKenzie Architects announced that they will
be moving into The Brownstones, leasing the majority of the first
floor. Poon McKenzie has planned to relocate in July of 2004. Look

MTECH
Office Building - 1414 - 1 Street SE
Mtech Information Technology Inc., a Calgary software firm, has
constructed a commercial complex on the SW corner of 1 Street
SE (Southbound Macleod Trail) and 14th Avenue. The office portion
is a 5-storey building, featuring state-of-the-art networking
systems, training and conferencing facilities, test labs, employee
leisure facilities, and outdoor courtyards on the top floor. A
ground-breaking ceremony took place to commence construction on
Tuesday, April 22, 2003, and the office complex was completed
in Spring 2004.
The proposed residential tower on the west side of the property
will be about 15 storeys in height, and will be separated from
the office complex by a public courtyard. The plan also includes
a public bus stop on the 1 Street SE office frontage.

Upside
Engineering - 409 - 10 Avenue SE
An addition has been made to the existing commercial building at
409 - 10 Avenue SE, with Upside Engineering as its new tenant. Riddell
Kurczaba Architecture Engineering Interior Design Ltd. has worked
on the Upside Engineering building, which contributed to the ongoing
revitalization of the Warehouse District, as well as adding more
office space to the area. The project was completed in early 2004.

Ribtor
Building Renovation - 318 - 11 Avenue SE
The Ribtor hardware building, located at 318 11th Avenue SE, has
undergone major renovations to accommodate 36,000 square foot
of new office space in its upper levels. The actual Ribtor retail
establishment has remained the same on the main floor, and the
upper floors have been developed into attractive office space
for tenants such as O'Connor Associates Environmental Inc.
The project, by Ronmor Development Inc., was celebrated with
a Grand Opening ceremony on June 20th, 2003. The event, to commemorate
revitalization in the Warehouse District, the history of the Ribtor
company, and the new partnerships formed to bring Ribtor into
the trend of converted warehouse office space, was a fantastic
success. The cermony was attended by many special guests, including
Mayor Dave Bronconnier (shown left, opening up the building with
a bang), Alderman Madeleine King, MLA Jon Lord, and the Calgary
Stampede royalty (shown left below).

IBM
Complex - 227 - 11 Avenue SW
The first phase of a three-phase campus style IBM complex has
been completed, and had its grand opening in October 2002. The
building now houses 500 IBM Calgary employees, and will eventually
hold all 650 of IBM's Calgary employees. The building was developed
by Bentall Development Services of Vancouver.
The 90,000 square-foot, five-storey building is unique in its
design to enhance teaming within the company, and with IBM customers
and business partners. The interior design, by IBI Design Group
& Bravo Design of Calgary, features an open concept with common
areas that have network access. Here, employees can work in an
informal setting that promotes creativity and teamwork.
Phase One of the complex, shown on the left, also features the
"Blue River Bistro" on the main floor. The next two
phases are to be completed in 2006. All buildings in the complex
will be joined by a glass atrium. Please click on the links below
